The purpose of the Evening Star Quilt Guild is to promote the love of quilts, to encourage and preserve the art of quilts and quilting and to contribute friendship, knowledge, and encouragement to others.

The guild is based out of Birmingham, Alabama and was founded in 1998. Our Guild meeting is the first Thursday of every month at the North Shelby Library; additionally, we have Sit 'n Sew the second Saturday of the month at the First Baptist Church of Helena.

The April meeting will be all about colorful hand-dyed fabric! It's time for the Stitching Hope Challenge reveal and vote for our favorite; we also have UAB Assistant Professor Doug Baulos presenting a program on indigo dyeing and shibori dyeing processes. Doug's introduction to these methods of dyeing fabric will be followed by a hands-on workshop later in April.

Stitching Hope Challenge Ė We need to know if you are participating!

We canít wait to see what our members have been making with the Stitching Hope fabric that was hand-painted for our guild. There were some gorgeous projects seen at the February retreat at Sunset Inn. Now we need to get ready to show them off.

If you are participating in this challenge, please send an email to Carol Risher at carolrisher@charter.net to let her know what you are making and the size. This helps us make sure we have enough display space set up. And please plan on arriving a bit early so we have time to get everything hung before the meeting starts at 7.

WORKS IN PROGRESS are welcome. We know everyone is busy and maybe you havenít quite finished your project. No problem! Letís show our talented artists the wide range of beautiful items that have been created. Everyone will vote on their favorite item and we will have cash prizes of $75 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third.
