June 4 Guild Meeting: Antique and Vintage Sewing Machines by Gwen Cox

Gwen Mewbourne Cox is a Birmingham native who grew up in Ensley and presently resides in Historic Roebuck Springs. Her childhood love of reptiles and dinosaurs and sorting through otherís trash did not translate itself into a career in herpetology or paleontology; rather she makes her living as an RN and by selling on ebay. She has quilted and been a member of the Birmingham Quilters Guild since 1984. She has worked at Childrenís Hospital since 1983, with experience in the ER, PACU, Poison Control, and Surgical Services. In addition to yard sales & thrift stores her passions include birdwatching, quilting and collecting old quilt tops and blocks, rubber stamping, dance, bakelite, vintage Fiesta dishes, photography, travel and collecting old sewing machines & vintage sewing items. Gwen shares her life with two cats, a parrot, old sewing machines and quilts too numerous to count, in a house with a giant bottle tree in the front yard.
